Estonia is small country right between Finland and Latvia. They speak Estonian, but also are good in Russian and English. They saying we- Latvians
having 6 toes, that they created Christmas tree (don’t believe, Latvians did 😃), and that they having prettier oldtown then Riga (no, but it is still very beautiful).
I will concentrate more on the food and restaurants i visited than to tourism itself, but including some nice and interesting places I visited. If you are addicted of cocktails, than read further because in Estonia I drank the best cocktail of my life 🍸….
But it all started 4 days earlier….
TRANSPORT! 🚌 We woke up at 6.30 am in Riga, to make our way to Central bus station, to go for Lux express bus and go to Tallinn.
This trip was 12 eur from Riga to Tallin (1person).
2 eur Tallinn- Parnu
16 eur Parnu- Riga
It was the first time we travel in Lux express bus (my boyfriend who has long legs said that it is very comfortable and roomy), they also offer free tea and coffee and of course toilet and wifi. I was very satisfied and can’t wait to find more reasons to travel by Lux express.
TALLINN (the capital of Estonia)
The first stop- capital of course!
First impression? Am I in northpole? 🍦Yes, it was that cold or atleast felt like. It was already cold in Latvia but Tallinn felt much more. A lot of snow, no cleaned streets but we loved the city right away, looking under the snowy cover could see beautiful, and highly loved and cared city, modern with sliding screens and high buildings on one side and ancient medieval touch on other side of the city.
All I can say is that they do have very good food and restaurant culture. Some places are more expensive, some are less, but treating and taking care of customers was good in all the places I visited (of course where wine costs 27 eur, we didn’t need to worry about that our glasses are empty, because they were filled in 2 sec time, I am surprised that the meat wasn’t cut and put in our mouths 😆)
1. PEGASUS restaurant 🥘
Looking back to our place choices and foods we ate, it looked like this for us was “something new, never tried” kind of experience.
This is middle priced restaurant, cozy, with books all around, 2 fl
oors and nice view out of window. Service was very nice and stuff was kind. Gave us some dark Estonian bread with seeds- very very very delicious! Of course we firstly ordered some real Estonian beer, and as for food we both went to one- chicken with couscous. Food was very delicious, first time i ate couscous looking like that with so big pieces as fish eggs. Really rare but tasty.
Address: Harju 1, Tallinn
Beer: 4,50 Eur
Couscous with chicken: 12,70 Eur
2. GOODWIN the steak house 🥘
High priced restaurant. Very cozy, warm and romantic atmosphere. We were never left out by their stuff, wine glass was always filled and always made sure if we are happy and satisfied.
When entering this restaurant it was already clear that we will order some wine, and even when we saw high prices of steaks, we decided to spoil ourselves and chose some steak with fries and it was so, so good!
Address: Viru 22, Tallinn
Wine: 27 Eur
Steak: 22-25 Eur
3. HELL HUNT (bonus feature)🍻 1st Estonian pub
We entered this pub only to warm ourselves up and have some delicious local beer (they have all kind of beers from all over the world, as well as Latvian Valmiermuiža- which is the best latvian beer).
Address: Kopli 1, Tallinn
1. Seaside with beautiful graffiti
2. The beautiful Old Town, and its mountain to catch beautiful panorama and view of the castle.
of meat and potatoes, we decided to try something else, and as asian food is usually much cheaper we went to Asian village.
Price: around 10 eur per meal
2. SWEET ROSIE Irish pub Parnu 🥘
We found this pub online and thought it looks nice, cool and interesting to spend some time on.
Amazing atmosphere, televisions with Olympic games on, great design, friendly stuff and good food. Didn’t regret any moment.
Ordered some beef steak and potatoes (very delicious meat for low price)
Do you remember about the cocktail I tasted? Yes, it was here and just for that cocktail i would go back. Its main ingredient were Estonian traditional Liquier Vana Tallinn. 🍸
Address: Munga 2, Parnu
Price: around 15 eur per meal
Cocktail: 4 Eur
3. Restaurant ESTONIA Hotel resort & SPA🥘
First night when we wanted to eat the most, we were walking around the city but all the nearest places were closed for winter season (remember what I said about suggestion to visit during winter, forget about it 😅) , so we decided to go back and eat in hotel.
Restaurant very luxurious and cozy, professional stuff and tasty food.
My boyfriend ordered duck and loved every bit of it. (just too small as he said)
I ordered meat salads and desert, which was very good but a bit too sweet for my taste.
Restaurant had a medium to high prices.
