Why journal and how can journaling help you?

How can journaling help for begginers?

I started to journal because sometimes i had weird dreams and nightmares and I wanted to organise my thoughts. As well as I understand that I had some traumas that are unsolved in my mind.

However, I continued journaling for another reason, to have a time for myself and help with my routine and job. I work from home and a lot of my work includes helping others and working for my clients. Therefore I wanted to have a time for myself only.

Why do you want to journal? To get over some traumas or bad thoughts? Or to improve your routine? To reach goals?

What is the best time to journal?

What is the best time to journal?

There is no specific right time when to journal. Many women online share how they start their mornings with a cup of coffee, in front of fireplace, journaling for 15 minutes in peace. However, most women have to get up early, run to their office, do not have a fireplace, rather than husband and kids that need to be fed. Therefore, let’s be real- choose the best time for you! I think having a 15 minute peaceful time for yourself before the bed time is amazing as well.

I prefer to journal on mornings, and read books after long day of work.

How to start journaling?

journaling for beginners on how to start journaling

Do not start journaling because I tell you to or because it is trending on Social Media or because everyone does it. Start journaling only if you have a goal or something to solve for yourself. Have a goal or guidance before you start journaling and then think about the moment when you will have the moment for yourself. Last but not least, get some cute journal and prompts (it will motivate you).

Prompts of journaling that you will need

Where to shop journaling prompts

I already mentioned before that my first attempt to journal failed a lot. It was because I needed some guidance and ideas what to journal about. If I had the weird dreams, I would write them down and analyse a little bit and it ended with that. However, whenever I wanted to journal for my motivation, routine and goals, I had an empty mind most of the days. Therefore, I gave it up and really have not picked it back up until I got my prompts.

Mind cards

Therefore, mind cards is exactly what I needed. These are cards that have different topics or questions on each card that you can choose to give you topics on what to write about every single day. One of the most useful prompts that I did not know I need. Mind cards are affordable, and you can gift them to others as well or share them (yes, it is a great gift idea as well).

The most important journaling prompt you will need is a journal. Therefore, I want to share a few journals that I have tried myself and I love.

Lined journal– normal notebook that you can express yourself in whatever way you want. Order the lined journal with mind cards.

Bullet journal– dotted pages. Meant for creative souls that want to draw, write, doodle, create lists etc.
