Holiday Style tips for Petite women
I want to share some style tips when shopping and choosing your holiday outfit. Firstly, monochromatic outfits are very flattering and will visually lengthen you. Especially, if it is the colour of your skin! Secondly, choose the length above your knee to show some skin and lengthen your legs. However, if you prefer a more elegant and longer length, choose dresses with a small slit or any vertical lines! Thirdly, the most flattering necklines for Petites are V-neck line and heart neckline. Avoid very round, square or boat necklines.
Last but not least, you can always elevate the outfit with the right shoes and accessories. Preferably long, elegant earrings for jewellery. However, for shoes I suggest pointed toe pumps or sandals.
Holiday Dresses for Petites
Satin dresses
During the last couple of years, satin dresses have become popular. However, the classy free-fall satin dresses will show every curve you have on your body. If you are fine with it, then go for it. However, I have also discovered that any water spill and drops will be seen on satin fabric for a long time (like after washing hands). Dismissing all the cons, I still admire satin dresses and agree that they are elegant dresses and appropriate for both- Christmas and New Year parties.
Velvet dresses
I have a gorgeous red velvet dress that I still need to wear for an event. Velvet dresses are the most gorgeous dresses for Christmas events at home, with friends, and grandparents or even going to the opera. Lastly, velvet feels comfortable, and is soft, and cosy while looking elegant and luxurious. For extravagance, choose emerald green, burgundy red or royal blue tones.
Sequin dresses
All women want to look like a disco ball during New Year’s Eve- am I right? Therefore, sequin dresses are the perfect dresses for the New Year party. However, if you do not want to shine like a diamond, I have found great dresses with fewer sequins.
Black Dresses
Black dresses deserve their category! There was a moment when I did not have any black dresses as I saw them as boring. However, now I have been prohibited from buying more black dresses because I have a lot (but I still want more). This category will have velvet and sequin. metallic, mini, maxi and more dresses but all of them- black!
White dresses
As I was searching for the best holiday black dresses for shorties, I saw how many amazing white dresses there are. And in winter, white dresses will make you look like a Snow White.
Jumpsuits
Jumpsuits are amazing for corporal events, especially if you are the higher rank!
Other holiday dresses for Petites
In this category, I am including the gorgeous dresses that I found beautiful, but that did not fit other categories.
Where to buy holiday dresses for Petites?
- ASOS. Global retailer, that has its brand, as well as other brands like New Look, Miss Selfridge, Vero Moda and more.
- Boohoo. More affordable retailer than Asos- need to be careful with the quality. However, I had found good gems in the past.
- Debenhams. Amazing retailer in the UK, that has a lot of other brands and retailers underneath. For example, Karen Millen, Boohoo, Pixie Girl, Oasis and so many more. I suggest you look into Oasis and Karen Millen fashion.
- Pretty Little Thing. A brand mostly for trendy finds, and revealing fashion. However, I found elegant and feminine dresses too.
