Petite women meaning

Petite women meaning

How is my life as a Petite woman? I am Petite, and even as a Petite, I did not know what it means for the longest time. I used to not follow any petite clothing stores or Petites because I thought it means tiny skinny women. However, Petites only mean your height not weight! Petite women are usually considered 5’4 or women under 163cm.

My Petite intro…

Life as a Petite woman. An open letter to all Petite women and their struggles

I do not know how to start this blog post or the open letter as I called it. The idea for this blog post came to me a few weeks ago. I think I should start writing down plan points when I have ideas, because I know I had an idea for this blog post, why I want to write it. The first reason, I want to start writing from time to time more natural diary-type blog posts. Secondly, I needed a blog post that would not take too much time (as I go away for my trip and I will not have time). Finally and most importantly, I want to relate and Petites to gain the confidence that I used to not have.

Life as a Petite

How to life as a petite woman and what means to be petite in working environment?

However, how it is to be Petite? I do not want to say it means being discriminated against. I hate the victim’s culture. If we give power to victim culture and find excuses, no one of us will do anything or achieve anything. I have always been doing my things and struggling without searching for excuses or finding problems in others. Even when I moved to Spain, it would be easy to say that they do not hire me because I am a foreigner, but I do not do it. Firstly, I have no proof of it! Secondly, being a foreigner can mean many things. For example, maybe they want someone that speaks perfect Spanish. Or maybe they want to support their local community and people, which I am not about to judge!

Petite in a work environment

How to be a model if you are a Petite?

However, as we are talking about Petites and open letters about, how it is to live life as a Petite, we should also mention that! I have done many different works in my life, as an accountant (actual accountant that is a respectful job), as to be teacher assistant, work in reception and clothing stores. However, I have noticed being looked up and down by people but mostly not by bosses but by my colleagues have worked with. I noticed that only after I read the article about how women are many times judged by their looks in the work environment. Therefore I want to know if you have felt that discrimination, because of your Petite size or general appearance. Let’s even look at some professions that openly discriminate against us, like runway modelling or flight attendant. I used to want to be a flight attendant, and they have height requests. Once I traveled with the company I wanted to apply to, and I could reach all the corners and cupboards so these requests did not make sense.

Insecurities about being short

Where to find petite tips, life tricks?
Me in Sevilla

Talking about insecurities and confidence, I do think the worst times are in school. That is when I felt the worst in general and had the most insecurities. Now thinking back, I am sure all of the people I knew had them for their reasons. I remember there was this girl, 13cm taller than me, who always made drama and was crying for being short, and I always looked at her like- okay, girl, so what should I do now?
However, yes that time was the worst. I felt the shortest, and everyone was pointing out that I look like a seven-year-old. That is why I was the first one of all girls in my class to wear high heels! I think it was not even so much about height as it was about feeling more mature than how I looked like. We will not even mention my horrible style!

Being Petite and shopping

Life as a Petite woman- work environment, shopping and more

Last but not least, shopping and fashion. Life as a Petite woman when shopping! We are all here for fashion and Petite fashion. I think when I was little there was not even the notion of “Petite”. Therefore I just bought the worst jeans and everything not even paying attention if they are too long. Jeans I cut short, but blazers or jackets always looked like from my mom’s closet. I think that inspired me to turn this blog into a Petite fashion blog. My mission now is to help short ladies and women feel confident and look the best. However, since I discovered and understood why clothing never fits me right, shopping is kind less positive for me. However, it is also less time-consuming, and I know what I want and what I deserve. If I enter any high-street store, I already know what to look at and if I need to waste my time trying it on. However, sometimes it takes away the whole shopping experience as now I almost do not even want to enter high-street stores and buy everything online from Petite brands. Does it happen to you?
