I have been going to different manicure specialists for years now and of course, all of them make great, perfect looking nails which last for two or three weeks. Sometimes it is difficult to find time to go or it seems too expensive and you could easily save up some money by doing a Gelish nail polish manicure yourself. So I decided to share a guide on how to do Gelish nails at home!
That is why I am doing my Gelish nail polish manicure myself and will do a step by step guide for you and a few tips which will help you in the process of applying Gelish nail polish.
1. Prepare your nails
Do casual manicure to your nails. Make the desired shape to your nails by filing them, push or cut your cuticles, buff the surface of your nails to make your nails smoother and ready for foundation gel.Â
2. Clean your nails
Use Gelish nail cleanser, alcohol wipes, or nail polish remover to clean your nails and remove the excess oils.Â
3. Apply Gelish foundation
Apply a tiny coat of your Gelish foundation to your nails ( I am using Saroline Gelpolish base gel from Aliexpress but I am hoping to try Kinetics nail foundation one day)Â
Cure the foundation gel in your Led or UV lamp ( I am using UV lamp from Aliexpress Cheap way to get casual lamp if you are making nails at home)
4. Apply the first coat of Gelish colour polish
You can use whatever brand and colour you want. I am using Kinetics shield Gel nail polish in shade “Naked beige” and I am so in love with this shade and Kinetics in general.
A tip: I applied to two nails at a time, then cured them in a UV lamp, then again did two nails and so on. I found it easier and also the result is smoother.Â
5. Apply a second coat of Gelish colour polish and cure in UV lamp
6. Apply a thin coat of Gelish Top it off to your nails
You can use whatever Gelish Top it off you like and have. Unfortunately, I don’t have Kinetics top it off so I am using a simple Gelish top from Saroline.Â
Cure it in the UV lamp.Â
7. Wipe your nails off with Gelish nail cleanser or Nail polish removerÂ
My favourite nail polish remover is Acetone free Gentle remover with Avocado extract from Maybelline NewYork
Few TIPS:Â
1. If you get nail polish on your skin remove it with a brush dipped in nail polish remover before curing in the lamp
2. If you mess up you can easily start from the beginning, by removing nail polish with nail polish remover before curing itÂ
3. Cure time: typically LED lamp 30sec, UV lamp 1-2 minÂ
