Last year was like no other. Some people are working from home now, others changed professions, and some lost their job. However, we all got kicked out of our routine and then thrown into another one. Most people are staying home all the time, eat at home, work out at home, work from home, and do everything at home. However, how to be productive in the New Year?
How to be productive when sometimes it is difficult to understand what time it is, what date it is? Last year, I planned my schedule more, be a little harsher with myself, and follow my plan. I learned how to plan my day, discovered new ways to stay productive, and learned from mistakes how not to burn out. Today I want to share what I learned, how to be productive in a New Year and all year around, and how to make this year the best year for you! Remember that no matter what happens globally, your perception, your life, everything depends on yourself!Â
Start your day right!
Everything starts in the morning! How you start your morning will tell you how the rest of your day will go. There is a reason why people say: getting out of bed with the right or wrong feet.Â
People also say that it is essential to have a nice and slow, healthy breakfast in the morning. Do not forget to spend some time just for yourself before jumping right onto your daily schedule or e-mails.
Find something that helps your body and mind; maybe it is stretching, yoga, or dancing.
Activities boost your energy
I would advise you to do some activities right in the morning even though it can be difficult, especially in wintertime, to get up and go jogging or working out. However, I have noticed that activities in the morning it colossal energy boost, lifts my spirit, gives me a lot of motivation, and makes me more positive about my life and day. However, if you cannot do it in the morning or if you like to exercise at night, whatever works for you. In the end, it is essential to incorporate activities in your daily routine due to health and lack of activities in the last year. How to stay productive all-year-round? Stay active!
Set goals
How to be more productive when working from home? SET GOALS! Last years, I have been setting goals and have analysed the last year to have an insight into where I am and how the business goes. Goals help for productivity and motivation, and give yourself due dates. In the business world, we dreamless and go goal hunting more! Firstly, set yearly goals, and then to make your way up to annual plans, you need to write down monthly and even weekly goals.Â
However, goals are nothing without a plan! Write down a to-do list or plan on what you need to do or improve to reach those goals.
Plan everything (to-do list)
In my short blogger career, I have learned that planning everything makes the actual action and working day so much easier. Without the plan, you are just running around like someone who is lost; you will jump from one task to another, your phone or social media will interrupt you, and you can never be productive without the plan!Â
My year always starts with writing down a general, approximate plan for the year! I wrote down all the holidays, festivities, and actual dates of the year that will impact my content. Then I already wrote down some launch dates for my merch, blog post ideas, and so on!Â
On weekends I try to plan my next week: content ideas, plan of what I need to prepare, and collaboration due dates. Every day after I finish the day’s plan, I look at what I have planned for the next day. If necessary, I change something, or write anything extra, many times detailed plans for the next day or do any preparations for the day ( like charging my camera battery for filming the next day).Â
Plan wisely!Â
Plan your weeks and days wisely. Look at yourself and your personality- are you a morning or night person? When are you the most productive? Plan the toughest and biggest tasks for when you are the most productive! I usually love to do my best to do the longest and hardest tasks before lunch!Â
Talking about weekly plans, I like to plan my week by doing the most on Monday and Tuesday, and on Friday are usually small tasks like making pins, doing some photos, or writing brands. That way, I start the day very energetically, knowing that my tasks are more manageable on Friday, more positive, and the weekend is close!Â
Small breaks!
Chill and Netflix! Very important and what many people forget is to have small breaks between tasks. Give yourself a time limit for the job, and then take a break. It can be walk, exercises, cleaning home, or just resting your eyes. However, I cannot stress enough how important it is! When I forget about it, I burn out towards the night, my head starts to hurt, ending up in migraine and ruined the next day! When you work from home or are your boss, you must remember that you are the core of your business and plan. You need to take care of your well-being, body, and mind!Â
Do tasks in bulks!Â
Something that I only learned a few years ago- do tasks in bulks! The best time saver and productivity tip are to not jump from one task to another entire task. There is an actual scientific reason for it. For the human brain jumping from one task to another one is more complicated, and you are going to waste a lot of time getting ready from one task to another, and even then, it will not be the most productive. However, if you plan the whole day for only one task, like writing blog articles, then your brain focuses on that one task, and it will take less time to do!Â
For example, my weekly plan goes like this. Mondays are for blog writing and scheduling. Then, Tuesdays are for filming Youtube videos. Wednesdays are for editing these videos. Thursdays are usually for tasks I did not finish or photoshoots. Fridays are for pins, e-mails, and learning.
Stop multitasking
Talking about bulks, we must mention multitasking when you do all the tasks simultaneously or jumping from one to another! It happens to me when while I write my blog, I suddenly want to answer my email, then answers Instagram comments, etc. Please do not do it! Schedule time for emails and small tasks like engaging in the morning and afternoon. However, when you do one task, please do not stop it until you are done and start another one!Â
Read motivational books/ magazines
Last year I got hooked on reading the inspirational book of women made by successful women who now teach others to reach their goals. I wrote the best entrepreneur books you must read the list on my blog; read it here.Â
Reading is a great way to give yourself a break from work while still learning and growing your IQ and intelligence.
Turn your switch off!
Â
Switch off entirely from work! It sounds easy and logical, but too many forget about it, including. However, it is a must if you do not want to go insane and stay healthy! Give yourself working hours every day and at least one day off in a week when you do not work at all! Spend this time with your family, doing hobbies and cleaning the house.
Do ideas jump into your mind during this period that you are afraid to forget? Please write it down for when you are going to work again, and forget about it! Turning the switch off is so important, if not the most important!
Give yourself a time limit for time-wasting activities.
Do not even lie to yourself or me. We all know some activities that only waists our time and do not help our productivity at all! However, I do not want to tell you completely forget about them. Ensure you spend the less time possible on them or make it a prize after finishing your tasks. However, if during the day you have this massive urge to play this game or scroll on Fb. I advise you to do it, put a timer on for 15 minutes and do it. When it rings, put your phone away immediately and continue with your tasks. Discipline is the key!Â
