Hiking weekend in the Pyrenees (Benasque). What I wore?

I and my partner found our hobby a few years ago. The hobby is going camping and hiking in the mountains of Pyrenees (as those are the nearest ones to our location). However, this weekend we went to spend an amazing weekend in a hotel in Benasque. How was our hiking weekend in the Pyrenees (Benasque)?

The beginning

Hiking weekend in the Pyrenees (Benasque).

Our idea about going to hike in the mountains and have a chill weekend in the Pyrenees came up already a month ago. However, in the last week of me having a huge migraine and my partner after vaccination, we were dreaming about our yearly hiking trip even more. Therefore when Friday came, we just booked our hotel for three days and started packing.

Saturday we left Zaragoza in the morning after breakfast. It took around three hours to reach our destination and check in the hotel. By the way, we did the check-in in the morning online. Therefore we only needed to get our keys, and that is all.

Hotel San Anton

Where to stay and sleep in Pyrenees and in Benasque?

Hotel San Anton was our choice because it is located right in Benasque, the price was great compared to other hotels. However, it even has breakfast included, and we booked with dinner included as well. We ended up having all the meals in the same hotel restaurant. The hotel, breakfast, and dinner included were around 190 EUR for two nights.

The best view in Pyrenees and Spain

We stayed in No. 117, but for a better view of the snowy mountain, I would suggest room No.118. The hotel rooms have beautiful and wide terraces, but as it was still cold we did not spend a lot of time on the terrace!

Rincon del Foc

The first day was very calm and chill. We only took a small walk around the beautiful stone houses in the village. Our meals always ended up in our hotel restaurant Rincon del Foc. Even if you do not stay in the hotel, I would suggest trying the restaurant! The restaurant offers a variety of meals. I had an eye on goat cheese salads that I did not try at the end. However, I tried salmon and other fish that I liked a lot. Soups and meats were very tasty. But for the dessert, I chose their yogurt that is the best yogurt I have eaten in my life because it seemed homemade and so fresh.

However, I would love to mention the staff because for me the staff and attitude are very important and let me tell you. Rincon del For had very friendly and kind staff that gave me a reason to return more and more to the restaurant.

Benasque

Let’s talk about Benasque itself. I like to visit mountain villages for the vibe. As I always say there are these places where there are no Eiffel towers, old palaces, and anything like that, but they have that special vibe in the air. The vibe that makes me want to walk around their beautiful stone houses, making thousand of photos (while annoying my partner). The next moment, crossing the river by their medieval stone bridge, kissing on the bridge. Then going into local gourmand stores, knowing, I am not going to buy anything, but it is a must! Entering sports stores that are overpriced, but you still enter one more, and one more, and end up on the terrace drinking coffee and looking at mountains thinking life is beautiful! This is how I could describe our stay in Benasque!

We even found a small wooden Churreria that sold waffles (gouffres) and also churros. However, the sad part of mountain villages is that they can be very small at times and bore me. Benasque, though, was not as small, and could find a lot of romantic streets in the village, and also outside in the campsite to find dandelion leaves for my pet bunny!

Hiking in Benasque

How was our hiking weekend in the Pyrenees (Benasque)? The next day (Saturday), we packed our backpacks. What do we pack for the hiking trip? We have bought high-quality hiking boots on Amazon, I usually wear black leggings and dress up in layers that I can take off if necessary. In our backpacks, we always have water bottles, fruits, and some pastry.

Where to hike in Benasque?

We left the hotel at around 9.30 in our car and went to Llanos del hospital. I expected more people as it was Saturday, but there was almost no one. We left the car, took our masks off (90% of the reasons, why we booked the trip), and started our journey! It is always exciting in the beginning because I am full of adventure spirit and you have no idea how easy or difficult it will be! I will say that every time there is some surprise.

Hiking weekend in the Pyrenees (Benasque) turned out to be snowier than expected. The trip started with grass but very fast turned into a white and showy experience! We noticed more and more people with special snowshoes, skiing, or at least with poles in their hands to have some balance. However, we went in our usual clothing and Amazon boots. It started with climbing up the ice and snow, and I did not have a lot of hope for the trip!

The best hiking trails in spanish pyrenees

We took a few forest toilet stops and munching stops, talking about our funny snow experience! How each time we are more prepared but always never enough prepared. However, continuing it was snowy, but the trail did not take us much up in the mountains anymore. Yes, it was hard because it is much more difficult when walking in the snow. My feet were much more tired than usual.
However, we reached our destination, and it was a beautiful waterfall (Cascada de Aigualluts) and the highest peak of Pyrenees.

The way back

Where to hike in Spanish Pyrenees, in Benasque?

I was talking at times about how nice it would be if we could reach our destination, and be brought back by helicopter. However, I realized that it is possible but it would hurt a lot and cost a lot as well. In the end, I decided I better hike back on my own feet. Therefore, we started walking. The trail back was so much easier because we walked next to the skiing trail, and it was plainer without a lot of dangerous moments.
I have never appreciated fresh air and beautiful nature as I did on this trip. 2020 made me realize how political and economical games can take nature and fresh air from us. I appreciated every breath I took on the trip!
The whole trip took us 13km and 3.30h.

Outfits for the weekend in Benasque

I have two favorite topics to discuss- travel and fashion Therefore, let’s talk now about all the outfits I wore in Benasque.

Best fashion daily and streetstyle outfits in spring 2021. Hiking weekend in the Pyrenees (Benasque).

Before coming to Benasque, I did some shopping in Pimkie where I bought the most beautiful flower crop top for spring and summer outfits. A few days later and I receive a PR package from Amazon with leather pants and what I think- beautiful going out outfit ready! Fila chunky sneakers on, and my outfit is styled up and completed!

Talking about the hiking outfit itself, I had my Amazon hiking boots, simple black fitness leggings, and Shein pullover. I wore a thermal shirt underneath to not feel cold! I suggest wearing layers because in the morning it can be cold and in an hour feel hot! Shop for the look here.
