Hello, my Petite ladies (and non-petite ladies that got lost in Google or SEO and found me and still wants to read this- you are welcome too). We have talked about fashion tips for Petites a lot on my blog, what Petites should wear, and how to dress. However, today we will discuss what not to wear as a Petite or five clothing items Petites should avoid.
I could come up with even more clothing items that are not the most flattering, but we will start with five, and you can comment on what I forgot. However, I love to give more value, help more, and give as many tips as possible. I still believe life Is short, and you should wear any clothing item if you want to wear it, even if it is not the most flattering for Petites. Therefore, I will give a few tips, on how to style the “unflattering” clothing item or which one to choose.

Baggy jeans
Baggy jeans are the worst ones that, to be honest- are not flattering on anyone. However, baggy jeans on Petites, especially, if you are a plus-size or curvy Petite- even less flattering. Baggy and wide jeans are very trendy in 2022, and I am not here for them at all!
However, how to wear baggy jeans and look good? Wear baggy jeans with pointed-toe shoes or platforms that visually elevate the look and your body. Choose high-waisted baggy jeans and not low-waisted (the worst). Style baggy jeans with fitted crop tops because the 2/3 rule in fashion is for Petites!
Round toe shoes
There is a reason why we already touched the pointy toe subject. Round toes are not flattering on Petites and visually cut off your feet and height, making you look shorter. Therefore, pointed-toe shoes fashion tip is the best for Petites! I have noticed that a lot of Petite celebrities prefer pointy-toe footwear.
However, if you want to wear round-toe shoes, go ahead! I recently got myself round-toe booties for spring. My advice is to avoid bright colors or black. Go for nude and light tones instead. You can even visually lengthen your body by including vertical lines or slits in your outfit!
Drop A-line dresses with no shape
Nothing is worst than oversize and drop dresses for Petites. Especially for curvier or bustier Petites (like myself). I remember when a few years ago everyone was wearing A-line ruffle dresses. They looked so cute on women. However, I looked like a pregnant woman (pregnant with my chest, haha).
However, my tip would be to cinch the dress in with belts. Choose a belt that is not too wide, or it will give heavier look on your body and waist! You can also layer the dress up with a fitted vest and sweater- that looks super cute as well!
Sometimes the dress is too small when cinched in with a belt. In that case, style the dress with leggings or biker shorts and cute booties or sneakers!
Cropped wide-leg pants
Cropped jeans and pants, in general, can look very great on Petites. I am searching for my perfect cropped jeans to wear with pointy-toe heels and flats. However, it is tricky if pants are wide legs, making your body look like a square. I have seen even tall girls wear wide-leg pants, and they look way shorter than they are (especially if they style pants up with sneakers).
However, you can make it better by choosing high-waisted pants. Style the wide-leg pants with pointy toe shoes and cropped tops, and you will look gorgeous.
Long maxi puffer coats
Last but not least of five clothing items Petites should avoid- long puffer coats. I do not even know what to suggest to you to make it look better! In general, long coats are a big NO for me (only coats that end above the knee). However, puffer coats make it even worse. Petites can escape wearing a cute, cropped puffer jacket, but it is difficult when there is length, and puff combined.
My style tip? Ankle boots with a pointy toe, any vertical lines, and designs you can find, and choose the coat with a V-neck line.
