Best Autumn and winter closet staples for women. I have wanted to write an article about fashion must-haves for a long time but did not know how to put it onto the “paper”.
These are the items that I have bought in the last few years and that are statement pieces that I build my whole wardrobe around and cannot imagine my outfits without. Everyone has their style but for me, these are the pieces that cannot miss and look great on anyone and can give you a luxurious, cozy or classy look (all depends on how you style it up). Ready for some closet staples?
Leather leggings
I used to not be a fan of leather clothing. It seemed to look very rocky and not classy at all, but to be honest it brings me a different vibe now! Leather leggings look great with suede boots and a white blouse, for example, or oversized sweaters. I cannot imagine a piece of clothing that does not look good with leather leggings. Well, maybe a prom dress.
I would advise you to get good material leggings, that are stretchy but durable and do not easily break. Otherwise, they will not last long and will not looks as good. Also what I have noticed that small pockets on the butt will look much better than just normal leggings.
Make sure the leggings fit you good, that they are not too baggy, too small or too long (or they will not look that flattering). I would suggest having high waisted leggings- they will be much more comfortable, flattering and also warmer for the cold weather. We do not want our lady bits to get cold, don’t we?

Denim Skinny jeans
Skinny jeans are a must-have all year round- not only in the cold season but also in summer. But dark blue denim skinny jeans look especially great in the Fall or winter with brown or black boots and sweaters. Denim jeans are very flattering for any type of body and can be dressed up and down easily using high-heels and blazers.
My most favourite outfit is denim skinny jeans, a black turtle neck dressed up with ankle boots or knee-high boots.
The same as leggings- make sure they fit well, are your size and have them high-waisted in order to make your body even more flattering and also- keep you warm. That is why I am writing this article- to give you style bits of advice while still being warm!

Ankle boots
Best Autumn and winter closet staples for women? Ankle boots are really cute and no matter what kind of style you have- cowboy, classy or rocky- you will find ankle boots for your style. I have a pair of boots that are classy with small high-heels. And others that are with studs and a little more rocky side. I like them both and feel that they cover me for the cold season very well! Both look great with leggings or denim jeans.
It is important to have statement pieces that you can dress up and mix one with another making many different outfits out of them! That way you do not have to have plenty of clothing, but can make many different outfits out of a few pieces of clothing. Great for the environment and for your wallet.
High knee boots
High-knee boots are the gain and pain at the same time (for me) because my calves have always been bigger but my feet smaller. Therefore, it has always been a struggle to find good high-knee boots. At the same time I am very short so many times they are much higher than my knee- so it is a real struggle.
However, when I find some good boots, I know that I will get good use out of them! High-knee boots look very glam, can dress up for theatre and other important events but at the same time to keep your feet very warm and cozy. They also motivate me to wear more skirts in the cold season.

High-knee socks
Where there are high-knee boots, there are high-knee socks. I do not advice to wear the high-knee socks with mini-skirt and shoes or ankle boots (imagine those adult movies and photos- exactly!). With the high-knee boots the look is totally different and give another, cute impression.
Best Autumn and winter closet staples for women? I have black high-knee socks with a lace edge that barely pops out of the boots and it adds a nice touch to the look. In winter when we are all snuggled up in big coats and boots, this adds a nice detail to the outfit! Socks will also keep your legs warm but add a nice glam look at the same time!

Trench
A good classy trench will most likely not work in winter (except if you live in California) but it is a must-have in the fall. The classy piece of all closet staples. I am telling that as someone who is not really a trench type of woman. I found my perfect trench from Vila clothing, it looks a little bit like a dress and is super cute (maybe I should try to wear it as a dress someday because it is tailored to be on the body!)
Trench coat tips!
About trench, you must be sure it looks great on your body and is not too big, shoulders not too big and sleeves not too long. I have had many trenches that I hate. Thinking it is my body fault or fault of the trench. Actually, it is because I never found some that fits me. It is more difficult to find a good trench if you are so short as I am. Trenches can be really boss-lady like and have the big shoulder caps and very long but once you find the right one- you will know!
Leather jacket
I cannot imagine my fall months without a good leather jacket for every day looks and cold evenings out. There are so many types of leather jackets. You can find the jacket suiting your style and type. I have seen some that are very classy and feminine. However, there are jackets that are more biker kind with buckles and spikes and metal buttons.
But the leather jacket is a must-have for a fall wardrobe and one of the timeless closet staples. Style them up with skirt, jeans, leggings, boots, ankle boots, dresses- whatever you have in your wardrobe you can dress it up with! Even the prom dress. I have dressed the leather jacket up with the most classy and elegant skirt and dresses possible. The best thing is, you do not need a real leather expensive jacket. Any high-street brand is going to have leather jackets, like Zara, Pimkie, H&M and so on.

Blanket scarf/ classic Burberry scarf
I would not go for a Burberry scarf right away because it is so expensive. If you have so much income to afford this kind of luxury, go ahead! (I have it written down in my wish list as well). I just want to say it is not necessary. The Burberry classic and traditional scarf are so popular that many brands and companies have copied them and you can find them everywhere for about a few bucks/ euros.
We forget accessories when talking about closet staples. I found my scarf in a small store while walking around Stockholm. It was just hanging there on the corner of the store, it was around 8 EUR I think, and is super soft and cozy, and made in France. In Fall and winter when we tend to wear more one-coloured outfits (black, grey, brown). Scarves with some classy pattern is going to put the detail and accent on your outfit making it stand out and more interesting in the grey, rainy weather.
White and long blouse
I would not say that white blouse is a must-have like a MUST-HAVE! I have one and I have not used it for a long time. However, it is mostly because I do not have an office job or classy environment where I would love to wear that kind of blouse. Disclaimer, it has not have to be white- it can be pale pink, blue or grey but white is the most classy one! The best from all closet staples.

If you do have a work environment that does not have specific regulations but still asks for a little bit of elegance and classy look, then the white, long blouse is for you. White and long blouses can be worn with leather leggings, normal leggings, jeans or black pants, can be tucked in and worn with skirt, layer them up with some cute sweater and boots or some nice scarf and cardigan. There are thousands of ways to style your white blouse! Therefore, it is a must-have for me to have in my wardrobe in case I need to go somewhere where it is required to dress up a little more classy (but at the same time you can dress it down any moment, make it stylish and not boring).
I included this because there are many ways to make the white blouse not look boring. I used to not like them because they reminded me of the first day of school and boring- white blouse and black skirt type of outfits but they do not need to be that way!
Even if those are the requirements, you can add the black skirt and blouse some interesting statement jewellery or a silk scarf for example!
