Best village in the Midi-Pyrenees of France: Saint-Lary Soulan. I have been to Saint-Lary Soulan around five times (maybe more, I cannot count anymore. The village is one of our favourite places because it is close to the Spanish border where I live, but it has a lot to see, a great atmosphere and we love campings in Saint-Lary.
In the blog post, I will include the best places to eat in Saint-Lary, campings where to stay in Saint-Lary and more.
Where to stay?
Val d’Autun
In Val d’Autun we especially love bungalows- the best ones we have stayed in. However, tent spots are great as well! There is a Bakery very close to where to shop for breakfast, a bar, a restaurant and even a swimming pool.
La Mousquere
If you want smaller camping, that has a cute small vibe, this is the camping for you. We always go there with tents. What we love the most is that each day fresh bread and croissants are brought to camping.
Where to eat?
I have been to a lot of French mountain villages, but usually, there are not a lot of choices when it comes to restaurants or bars. However, Saint-Lary has a lot of different restaurants to choose from. Therefore, I always return back.
Le Gros Minet
Le Gros Minet is my favourite restaurant in Saint-Lary. I usually order Monaco drinks, Goat cheese salads and Cafe Gourmand. Waitresses are always very nice and hard-working.
Izard Cafe Central
Beautiful inside garden with lights, and tasty food. I suggest ordering Goat cheese salads (the best I have ever ordered). However, the prices are high for the meals they offer. Usually, salads, pasta and rice dishes are not that expensive.
Au Balcon
You can eat at Au Balcon but we have never tried their food. However, it is our favourite place to have a drink (especially beer).
What to do and see?
I will just share a few things that we always do when going to the Saint-Lary Soulan.
- Hiking.
- Cycling.
- Exploring the city. The city is small but with a stunning vibe. Therefore I never get tired of the small village.
- Shopping. I always shop in the local stores, like local chocolate, wine, soup and more.
- Restaurants and bars.
